Is the difference between classical and ecclesiastic pronunciation just the j? Please refresh on the difference between classical and ecclesiastic pronunciation. Thank you!!
The ecclesiastical includes a soft c and g (like church and giraffe )before e and i and certain dipthongs, otherwise hard as in classical. The vowels are all long, or at least the same length, thus macrons are usually not included. Ae and oe are pronounced like Latin e. In most cases h is silent. J as you mentioned is pronounced as y. T is sometimes at least pronounced as ts. There re some other, but those are the main.
I use the ecclesiastical pronunciation and there are at least 8 differences. I follow Learn Latin’s course because he has the best grammar explanations and other aspects of the language that I have found. I have found Orberg’s Familia Romana read in the ecclesiastical pronunciation on Utube, but it is just the reading of the text, no instruction. The pronunciation is very beautiful to my ears.

There are several differences. I use the classical pronuncation, but both are fine IMO. I will make a video in the future about this topic.

Oops! I forgot a biggie. The v is pronounced as v, not as w.
