Important Update on the Latin Course for Beginners
Copyright, Paywall, and What's Next for the Course
Dear Latin Learners,
I hope you are all doing well. I have an important update to share with you regarding the Latin Course for Beginners.
Some of you may be wondering why I’ve paused the uploading of new video lessons to the course in recent weeks, and I want to be transparent with you about the reason.
Due to copyright issues related to the texts from Familia Romana (LLPSI) by Ørberg, I have been asked by the copyright holders to take down the course or move it behind a paywall. After much consideration, I’ve decided to place the course behind a paywall in order to comply with these requirements. I know this might be disappointing, especially since my original goal was to offer a completely free resource for everyone to learn Latin, and I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
This decision comes after a thoughtful exchange with the copyright holders, who understandably want to protect the intellectual property of Familia Romana. While I fully respect their position, I also want to continue providing this valuable resource for Latin learners. The paywall will help cover the royalties required for me to legally use these materials, and it will allow me to improve the overall quality of the course.
For those of you who are already subscribed as paid members, I want to reassure you that you will continue to enjoy the course as usual. There will be no interruptions to your access, and you will benefit from all future improvements, including new video lessons, audiobooks, quizzes, and other exclusive resources.
The Latin Course for Beginners will continue to grow and improve over time, with new features and resources designed to help you on your Latin learning journey. My commitment is to provide you with the best possible learning experience and to keep adding value to the course as we move forward.
That being said, I am committed to finding ways to offer free resources in the future, using only material that is free from copyright restrictions. I want to make sure that, in time, there will still be opportunities for everyone to learn Latin without any barriers.
I truly believe that Familia Romana (LLPSI) is the best method for learning Latin, and I hope this adjustment will allow me to continue sharing it with you all in a way that is fair to the creators of the material.
I deeply appreciate your understanding, your patience, and most of all, your continued support. It’s your enthusiasm and dedication that make this journey worthwhile. Thank you for being part of this community.
Warmly,
Magister Iācōbus (Learn Latin)
